Do these checks before flying
- Sign in using the phone number you will keep active.
- Confirm that verification messages reach that number.
- Open the relevant card or identity setup page and resolve outstanding requests.
- Save the hotel address and booking references outside the app too.
- Write down essential support contacts somewhere separate from the phone.
Successful registration does not prove that a payment, metro activation or booking will succeed in China. Use a small real purchase after arrival to check the payment flow before depending on it for a time-critical transfer.
Apps that can wait
Food delivery, restaurant deals and extra local services can wait until your address, communication and payment setup work. For the first meal, a hotel recommendation or nearby restaurant may be easier than debugging several new accounts.
Your non-app backup
Carry some RMB cash, your original travel document and a Chinese address card. Two wallets on the same phone do not protect you from a flat battery or lost device. Follow the first-visit checklist to prepare those backups.
