Start with whichever official wallet you can successfully set up with your own number and card before departure. Add the other if time allows, but carry a physical payment backup too. Both wallets on one phone share the risks of battery loss, device loss and unavailable SMS.

A sensible setup order
- Install the official apps while your normal app store and SMS work.
- Register using a number you will keep active.
- Complete requested identity checks and link an eligible card.
- Read the available merchant-payment method and any fee notice.
- After arrival, try a small real purchase before depending on the wallet for a time-critical trip.
Do not test by sending money to a stranger or by trying a personal transfer that your card does not support. Merchant payment and wallet balance transfers are different functions.
If only one works
Use it for supported purchases and keep cash for situations it cannot handle. You can return to the second wallet’s setup at the hotel. Repeatedly changing account details under time pressure is unlikely to make a queue easier.
If neither works
Read the error and use the payment backup plan. Ask the merchant about accepted cash or card options before ordering. Never buy an account or give a helper your password or verification code.
