Beijing 北京

Choose the correct airport and railway station first. The metro is extensive, but a cross-city transfer can add a substantial journey.

Airport to city

PEK is Beijing Capital International Airport (北京首都国际机场); PKX is Beijing Daxing International Airport (北京大兴国际机场). They use different airport rail links. Daxing Airport Express connects with the city at Caoqiao; Capital Airport Express connects with central metro lines.

Airport Express services are distinct from normal metro lines and have their own fares. Confirm the terminal and last departure with the operator.

Choose the right train station

Use the full name on your ticket. East, West, North and South are different stations.

The reviewed Beijing–Shanghai corridor starts here; search Beijingnan on 12306.
Beijing West 北京西
A different terminal used by many long-distance services. Do not confuse it with Beijing South.

Taking a taxi

Keep both the airport code and the Chinese destination ready. Leave extra time for a railway or airport connection.

Getting to your hotel

Pick a hotel near a useful metro line and confirm the station exit; large roads can make a nearby-looking hotel a longer walk.
